So tell me, what is sugaring?"Sugaring or “sugar waxing” is a method of hair removal that has been in use since 1900 BC. During the process, a sugaring substrate sticks to, & essentially removes hair without attaching to the skin. The sugaring paste is applied at room temperature & will not burn the skin. For this reason, sugaring is generally preferred over waxing. Sugaring is an organic way of removing hair using the natural ingredients of sugar, lemon juice, and water.

What makes sugaring better than waxing?Unlike waxing, sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth. Removing hair in the natural direction prevents ingrown hairs & early re-growth! Sugaring is completely organic as the only ingredients in sugar paste are lemon juice, sugar, & water. Therefore, sugaring is better for those with sensitive skin. Sugaring is considered to be more environmentally conscious, as the process does not require sticks or strips of any kind. Sugaring is extra sanitary as each ball of sugar paste is only used for one client and is immediately discarded after a single use. There is no need to worry about the possibility of “double dipping!” The list goes on & on… but need we say more?
-
Can I be sugared if I’m pregnant?Yes! However, due to pregnancy your skin may be more sensitive than normal (making sugaring more painful.) Please consult your doctor before booking an appointment.
-
Can I get a BlushTan right after being sugared?Yes! However, we suggest booking your spray tan at least one day after your sugaring session. Sugaring helps to exfoliate the skin, and the lack of shaving will help your spray tan last even longer! Especially if you sugar your arms / legs.
-
How long does my hair have to be in order to be sugared? We recommend scheduling your sugaring session about 14 days after your last shave or one month since your last waxing/sugaring service. Your hair should be at least ⅛” long for best results.
-
How often should I schedule sugaring services? You should book every two to four weeks depending on the body part. Consult your "sugarista" or trained sugar waxing esthetician for more details during your appointment!
-
How do I prep for my sugaring appointment? For best results, we suggest not exfoliating the areas you are being sugared for 1-2 days ahead of your appointment. Come to your appointment with nothing on your skin. (lotions, oils, etc.)
-
Does Sugared At Blush offer sugaring services for men?We offer sugaring services for men’s legs, arms, chest, & back! However, we do not offer “manzilians” or “manscaping” at our studio.
-
Who will perform my sugaring services?A female "Sugarista" (also known as a trained esthetician) will perform your sugaring treatments. Our Sugaristas have been certified in sugaring, & thoroughly understand the technique of proper sugar waxing.
-
If I use Retinol on my skin, or take Accutane, can I still get sugared?"Please wait at least 1 week to schedule your sugaring service after using retinol (on the area that you plan to have sugared.) We suggest that you do not book sugaring treatments within the first 6 months of taking Accutane. Please consult your dermatologist before booking an appointment.
-
Should I reschedule my Blush Brazilian appointment if I got my period?Nope! However, we do require that you use a tampon during your sugaring session. Please note that females are more sensitive to pain right before + during menstruation.
-
What are the ingredients in Sugared At Blush’s sugaring paste?Simple & organic like all skin care products should be! Our sugaring paste is made with lemon juice, sugar, & water.

What are the COVID-19 health + safety updates? All staff and clients are required to wear a face mask in our studio. Following Pennsylvania state mandates, we cannot offer sugaring services on the face at this time. We sanitize all surfaces between each client and service with a hospital-grade antimicrobial cleaner. All staff is required to wash their hands using antibacterial soap & water before wearing latex-free, tear-resistant disposable gloves. Our sugar paste is only used for one service & is immediately disposed of with the disposable gloves after each sugaring session. We cover our tables with a new disposable sheet for each client. We cleanse all of our supplies with soap + water and place them in Barbicide disinfectant for 10 minutes, rinse again, & then dry with single use paper towels. We do not accept walk-in clients, & we are limiting the number of appointments each day to minimize interactions between guests.
